Open Iftar invite outside Waltham Forest Town Hall today
An Open Iftar has been organised outside the grounds of Waltham Forest Town Hall today at 8pm.
Hosted by the borough council and in collaboration with Waltham Forest Council of Mosques (WFCOM), the event aims at bringing people of all faiths and none “together to partake of the community spirit and explore the Islamic faith through food”.
Organised by Open Iftar – “the first global community-led public iftar campaign” – the initiative, sponsored by Waltham Forest Connecting Communities, is expected to attractive between 400-500 people.
It’s a great chance to make new friends as you enjoy great food, inspirational talks, and engaging discussion. – Waltham Forest Council
Food will be made available on a first come first served basis with priority given to those who were in time to register for a free ticket.
Attendees are therefore being asked to bring their own picnic and a prayer mat for evening prayers, with limited ablution facilities available.
“Inspirational talks” are also scheduled during the evening, and children under 13 will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult.
