‘Halal’ Pitaya from France makes UK London debut today
HALAL STATUS Fully Halal food menu • Alcohol servedThe hugely successful Thai fast-casual brand from France, Pitaya, will be opening its first UK site today in London’s Covent Garden.
With doors opening at 11am, the 56-cover restaurant will be celebrating its launch on the Strand by giving away a dish on the house to the first 100 customers.
While Pitaya has confirmed with FtLion that “our meat is certified Halal”, their website also states: “Pitaya restaurants are indeed Halals [sic]. You can ask for certifications at the cash desk.”
The brand was created in Bordeaux in 2010 by Kadir Guglu and celebrity chef and Masterchef France finalist Nathalie Nguyen – the latter involved in the creation of all the recipes here.
With 12 company-owned sites in Bordeaux and 44 franchise stores in France and Spain, Pitaya is now hoping to wow Muslims in London with Halal food that’s been inspired by street food found in Bangkok.
