Premium Halal Meat & Poultry recalls unapproved chicken
Unapproved chicken products failing to comply with regulatory requirements have been recalled by a Birmingham-based company, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) has reported.
In a point-of-sale notice issued by Premium Halal Meat & Poultry, customers have been warned not to eat the offending products but return them to the outlet purchased for a refund.
According to the FSA: “Premium Halal Meat & Poultry is recalling several Direct Poultry Products Ltd chicken products because Premium Halal Meat & Poultry does not have approval. This means it is not known what production and hygiene procedures have taken place at the premises.”
In 2016, Premium Halal Meat & Poultry hit the headlines after it was found guilty and fined £25k for dumping rubbish outside the firm’s base in Bissell Street.
The following eight products irrespective of pack size, batch code or use by date have asked to be returned: Fresh Chicken Breast, Fresh Chicken Legs, Fresh Chicken Wings, Fresh Chicken Thighs (with or without bone), Fresh Chicken Niblets, Fresh Chicken Tikka, Chicken Carcase, and Chicken Skin.
