Halal restaurant discounts for NHS staff during Covid-19
A number of Halal-friendly restaurants are offering free meals and heavy discounts to honour the selfless work put in by NHS staff during these testing times.
With coronavirus stretching the country’s emergency services to the limit, NHS workers have been on the frontline since the beginning in battling against the pandemic.
The most generous offers have been from those providing free meals as well as delivering free food to staff members in hospitals.
Looking to assist those caught up in the crisis, MyLahore in Newham said that they would be “reaching out to local hospitals with food deliveries” (hospital admin team can email: [email protected]) including “a delivery to the nurses at Newham hospital”.
Rikshaw Urban Indian Kitchen in Nottingham, who are offering free meals to staff at the City Hospital, said: “It has been humbling to see you go above and beyond to carry on working hard during these turbulent times.”
Award-winning Uni Kebab in Southampton announced that free lamb and chicken doner kebabs will be available for collection tomorrow (Friday 20th) to not just NHS staff, but also the homeless, vulnerable, and the city’s university students “in limbo and can’t go home to visit family this Easter”.
Wingstop in London are putting up 8 wings or 8 boneless, a regular side and a drink (available instore) at their Shaftesbury Avenue and Dalston branches, while looking to organise food drops to their local food banks (email [email protected] for more info).
