Rooster Shack in Birmingham: ‘Who needs Pepe’s & Nando’s?’
HALAL STATUS Fully Halal“Who needs Pepe’s, Nando’s, and other piri piri joints in Birmingham when you have the award-winning Rooster Shack?” asks the gourmet fast food brand’s proud owner, Imran.
It’s a powerful question too, especially since his branch in Woking Maybury Hill received the Good Food Award’s highest accolade, the Gold Seal, this year after the rare feat of winning three Good Food awards in a row (2020-22).
Rooster Shack’s debut in Birmingham couldn’t have answered Imran’s question any more emphatically either with expectant diners queuing down Kings Heath’s High Street for the chance of tasting their secret homemade sauces.
In fact, it is their sauces – originally developed by Imran’s father and Rooster Shack founder, Asa Mamud – that separates their award-winning menu from the UK’s piri piri crowd.
With this 16-cover restaurant being the company’s third (the second located in Hampshire’s Aldershot), there’s enough chicken feathers to their cap to give Pepe’s, Nando’s and other big Brummie brands sleepless nights ahead.
What separates Rooster Shack from the piri piri crowd?
But it is their three-fold ethos of ‘Atmosphere, Pride and Food’ which ultimately defines this brand’s success and incredible produce.
Pride not only determines their superior quality of food, but also their price range, with the quarter (£4.99 v. £5.29), half (£6.49 v. £7.49), and full (£10.49 v. £12.49) piri piri chickens significantly less than their nearest rival.
In their endeavour towards providing an excitingly varied menu, there’s a number of items you won’t find served at the aforesaid brands either, such as the Southern Fried chicken that’s battered in their very own original Southern spice mix.
That’s not all, Rooster Shack even have a Mexican twist, with flame-grilled chicken and lamb quesadillas served in toasted tortillas topped with melted cheese and a tangy tomato salsa.
The desi twist to their menu has beef and lamb burgers that include The Punjabi with an inferno chilli sauce, The Thai with a sweet chilli sauce, The Moroccan with a lamb kofta in a brioche bun, and even a Smash Burger to mix things up.
What’s more, Rooster Shack has also released its very own Android and iOS app which customers can download to conveniently put in orders for delivery and collection.
