SALT in Abu Dhabi offers street food Wagyu burgers & more
By Bloggers for Hoggers
Looking for a food truck that offers more than just food? Al Mushrif in Abu Dhabi is the right place for that.
Salt is a mobile street food vendor that blew us away, with its beautiful ambience and its perfect location in the middle of a park.
The first few things to have caught our eye when we got there were the children playing table tennis and Giant Jenga on the lawn right next to the food truck. Families and friends were seated in the bliss and greenery surrounded by trees and shrubs.
We went on to place our order after having had a warm welcome from the staff of Salt, who, by the way, seem to actually be putting a significant effort into making customers feel at home.
Having ordered the Hook (AED 37) and Chicken Cheetos (AED 42) sliders, the Lotus softie (AED 21), Chicken Strips (AED 27) with Chic Sauce (AED 5), and their Fire Fries (AED 27), we were excited to collect our order at the beep of a buzzer which indicated our meal was ready.
Everything we had ordered looked neat and presentable. The burgers smelled like decent beef burgers with the Chicken Cheetos expectedly emitting the slight aroma of Cheetos.
To our surprise, and in spite of the hype and buzz surrounding Salt, the Hook burger did not live up to our expectations despite actually containing a 2oz Wagyu Beef patty along with melted cheese, Hook salt, jalapenos and lettuce.
Mind you, it’s not that we didn’t like it; it’s just that we expected better than we got given the wagyu meat, which most people would expect while visiting Salt.
We’d use the word ‘decent’ to describe the Chicken Cheetos burger, which gave us a gist of a different combination, which made this quite uncommon to most burgers. It tasted good and the Cheetos definitely contributed to that spark.
The Chic Sauce, a blend of mayonnaise and barbecue sauces, went well in conjunction with the Chicken Strips, which were reasonably crispy and tasted great.
The Fire Fries, a bowl of French fries topped with cheese and jalapenos, tasted just as one would expect.
The Lotus softie at the end was the cherry on top of our meal and experience. It was handed over to us with a smile by the waiter, and the taste of the Lotus biscuit within the softie proved to be a game changer.
The restaurant can accommodate approximately 70 people at a time and the toilets were clean and well kept.
All in all, we’d say that Salt is the place to go for a great time with the family and kids, with decent food to offer.
