The owner of Smacks and the iconic Steakout brands has teamed up with a UK rap duo to open a supermarket in south London.
Kaysor Ali has partnered with Muslim rappers Krept and Konan to launch Saveways in Croydon this weekend.
With doors opening at noon on Beddington Lane this Saturday 1 February, the supermarket aims to serve the Purley Way area and the 257,000 residents in the surrounding boroughs.
Saveways is hoping to be a hub for the community by providing diversity through food which includes Halal and world food ranging from fresh meat and a bakery section, to household essentials, as well as providing onsite parking and a prayer room.
“Together, we’ve combined our skills, networks, and passion to create a supermarket experience that not only serves the community but sets a new standard for quality, inclusivity, and excellence in the UK food retail space,” Kaysor said.
While co-founders Krept and Konan added: “We are all about representation in the community and finding solutions, we are all from underrepresented communities so this is a perfect partnership. Saveways is game-changing for our community and we are excited to bring this vision to life.”
