Tawa Roti brings West Indian cuisine to London Clapham
HALAL STATUS Fully HalalA new Caribbean eatery that promises to transport “you right back to the West Indies” launched in London’s Clapham earlier this month.
Specialising in the “ancient art of cooking… every single roti on a traditional Tawa”, Tawa Roti has opened in Clapham High Street with very limited indoor seating.
Tawa is a flat pan that’s crafted from solid cast iron and used to make rotis, which can be enjoyed with traditional West Indian dishes.
Tawa Roti is an independently owned, family business which promises to bring “traditional cooking and authentic recipes passed down from generations” and who informed FtLion that “our meats are Halal”.
Some dishes to look out for include dhal puri, fried fish, curry or stew chicken, curry goat, lamb, shrimp or duck, as well as a selection of sweet pastries.
