The Great Chase to soft launch at The Woodlands in Blackburn

Perhaps the single biggest news to emerge from the UK’s Halal restaurant scene this year is the surprise announcement made today of two fully Halal fine-dining establishments uniting as one.

London’s The Great Chase has said that it will be soft launching next Wednesday 22 July at The Woodlands which itself launched earlier last year in March.

We reported on the £750,000 renovation of the landmark building on Preston New Road which went on to launch as a modern gastronomy establishment and coffee house.

The Woodlands’ fine-dining menu had been designed by chef consultant Syed Alom who was said to have taken inspiration from none other than Michelin-starred chef Heston Blumenthal.

This latest news comes on the 3rd anniversary of the The Great Chase who posted on Instagram: “We cannot wait to open our doors in Blackburn and do what we do here in London at the wonderful venue The Woodlands.”

But The Great Chase had revealed last month that recent changes made by the Government to the Congestion Charge in central London would “most likely cripple us and effect our ability to stay open” once the restaurant reopened on 4 July after lockdown.

The fine-dining establishment in Islington had said that the decision would be “a serious blow to us as [the] majority of our guests… drive to us”.

While it is uncertain at this stage whether The Great Chase will maintain the original architectural features retained by The Woodlands, parking certainly won’t be an issue with their second venture which has spaces both at the front and the rear of the venue.
