The chicken served at Wimbledon will be Halal. Yes bacon is served as part of the menu, but we have very strict guidelines so as to avoid cross-contamination.
While the majority of Muslims fast during Ramadan, Thunderbird Fried Chicken will be giving away 500 Thunderbun burgers today when they open in London’s Wimbledon.
The chicken specialists will be launching their latest branch on The Broadway at noon with 500 free burgers on a first-come first-served basis.
Regarding the Halal nature of their menu, then according to their website: “All of our chicken in our London restaurants and kitchens is sourced from Halal-certified suppliers; and certificates are available behind the counter.
“We sell alcohol, but we do not use it anywhere in the cooking process. Please note, chicken at our Parkdean Resorts franchise sites is not Halal.”
A spokesperson for Thunderbird also confirmed with FtLion that while “bacon is served as part of the menu, we have very strict guidelines so as to avoid cross contamination”.
