Canadian fast food chain Tim Hortons launched its first ever restaurant in Birstall, West Yorkshire, today and its 28th overall.
Located at the Birstall Retail Park off junction 27 of the M62, the drive-thru not only rewarded the first 100 customers with freebies, but also its first with free drinks for a year.
A spokesperson has confirmed with FtLion that Tim Hortons introduced a pair of Halal items to its menu in 2019.
“We don’t promote our restaurants or meat as Halal approved. However, our Tims Crispy Chicken and Tims Chicken Tenders are sourced from suppliers whose products are certified as Halal by religious authorities.”
It was further clarified that while “the rest of our meat is purchased from EU countries and is not Halal …. The chicken is baked in our restaurants on separate trays. Therefore there is segregation of the Halal certified chicken throughout the process”.
Made with a toasted brioche bun, the sandwich is filled with crispy chicken, green leaf lettuce, sliced tomato, smokey tomato sauce and mayonnaise, while the tenders are served with a dip of choice.
