Tim Hortons open 3 in a week with Motherwell launch today

Canadian brand Tim Hortons has kicked off the start of a major expansion plan by opening not one but three drive-thru restaurants in the space of a week.

Having opened a drive-thru restaurant on Killymoon Street, Cookstown, in N. Ireland yesterday, they have just launched one on Windmillhill Street, Motherwell, in Scotland.

Last Friday saw the official opening of their Milton Keynes branch in Kingston Centre Retail Park which was first-of-its-kind in the south of England.

This marks the start of the coffee chain’s ambitious target of having “a presence within every major town and city by 2022”.

FtLion announced in October that the franchise had introduced a pair of Halal items to its menu, with a spokesperson confirming: “We don’t promote our restaurants or meat as Halal approved. However, our Tims Crispy Chicken and Tims Chicken Tenders are sourced from suppliers whose products are certified as Halal by religious authorities.”

Clarifying that “the rest of our meat is purchased from EU countries and is not Halal”, the spokesperson added: “The chicken is baked in our restaurants on separate trays. Therefore there is segregation of the Halal certified chicken throughout the process.”

Made with a toasted brioche bun, the Halal sandwich is filled with crispy chicken, green leaf lettuce, sliced tomato, smokey tomato sauce and mayonnaise, while the tenders are served with a dip of choice.
