While the first this year is scheduled to open this Spring in Queengate Centre near Harlow Town Park, the second will be located in the town of Mansfield.
This flurry of sites is part of an ambitious plan that will see them coffee chain attempt to bring its restaurants “to every major town and city by 2022”.
Within the space of a week last December, Tim Hortons launched in Northern Ireland’s Cookstown, Scotland’s Motherwell, and before that Milton Keynes – the first of its kind in the south of England.
FtLion was informed in October 2020 of the introduction of a pair of Halal items to the menu: “Tims Crispy Chicken and Tims Chicken Tenders are sourced from suppliers whose products are certified as Halal by religious authorities.”
Clarifying that “the rest of our meat is purchased from EU countries and is not Halal”, the spokesperson added: “The chicken is baked in our restaurants on separate trays. Therefore there is segregation of the Halal certified chicken throughout the process.”
Made with a toasted brioche bun, the Halal sandwich is filled with crispy chicken, green leaf lettuce, sliced tomato, smokey tomato sauce and mayonnaise, while the tenders are served with a dip of choice.
Tim Hortons introduction to Mansfield is part of a £12m regeneration plan which will also include a six-storey, 100-bedroom hotel with car parking spaces and links to the Four Seasons Shopping Centre.
