Tongi replaces Thali & Pickles in London Balham

A new Indian restaurant called Tongi has taken over from Thali & Pickles in south London’s Balham.

Meaning ‘cottage’ in the Bengali language, this eatery has opened on Balham Station Road following extensive renovation.

While the place does serve alcohol, the food menu itself is fully Halal, FtLion has been told, with dishes that are both traditional and continental in nature.

With starters like Banarasi Samosa Chaat and Tandoori Lamb Chops, Tongi is most popular for its Hyderabadi Dum Lamb Biryani.

Other dishes include Bombay Bhel Puri, Pahadi Kebab of marinated chicken thighs, as well as a items like Keema Pau, Chicken@17, Paneer 65, Tongi sizzler, and Black Pepper Prawn.
