Halal restaurants along London’s Upper Tooting Road SW17
SPONSORED CONTENTThere are a lot of fully Halal restaurants and eateries located in South London’s Tooting (SW17) that cater for the district’s sizeable Muslim community.
With Muslims making up around 20% of the population there, we paid the area a visit and have compiled a list of places to eat on both Upper Tooting Road and the High Street, which includes the two iconic markets.
Of course, with a strong Asian demographic, Tooting is renowned for its many curry houses, as well as the largest Chicken Cottage in Europe.
Before exploring the High Street, Tooting Market and Broadway Market, here’s an exhaustive list of what’s Halal on the long stretch of Upper Tooting Road.
As for those looking to fulfil their religious duties, or to just get away from the hustle and bustle, then Tooting Islamic Centre is situated in the heart of things.
STEAKOUT
Steakout requires little introduction. The branch in Tooting is not only a regular hangout for steak and burger aficionados, with comfy booth cubicles at the back, but it’s also HMC certified.
With branches established across the UK, including Cardiff, this Meat House is known for taking the common beef steak, tenderising and marinating it with unique flavours, before serving it in their signature sizzling Steakout style. And while many have attempted to replicate this, Steakout was one of the first to push the boundaries by reinventing and revolutionising the Halal steak dining.
With their menu having gone through yet another update in recent times, here’s some dishes to try for sure:
- NACHOS W/SPINACH CHEESE DIP – Crispy nachos served with hot creamy cheese spinach dip for dunking
- LAMB RIBS – Roasted flat rib, glazed in BBQ sauce
- LAMB PIE – Cubes of prime Lamb blended in a delicious spicy sauce & wrapped in a puff pastry shell
- BUTTERFLY LOADED BEEF DEAL – Tender cut of beef, butterflied and marinated to a thin juicy steak
- RIB EYE (200g/ 340g) – From the rib. Juicy, marbled with extra fat makes this especially tender & flavourful
Their committment is exemplified by them having hired the skills of a consultant chef in the 2015, who had honed his skills under none other than Michelin star chef maestro Heston Blumenthal, to improve their menu. Just check out a few examples of their food below:
