Zaika Asian Cuisine in Cardiff Wales Halal restaurant food tour
SPONSORED CONTENT HALAL STATUS Fully HalalAs Cardiff’s most talked about South Asian restaurant, Zaika was always going to feature in FtLion’s Halal food tour of Wales (sponsored by Harmony Farm in Torfaen who offer BBQs, camping, B&B, yurts, and more).
This vibrant curry house is located just off Hemingway Road in the city’s most popular leisure and entertainment destination spot, The Red Dragon Centre, which boasts a big screen cinema, a 26-lane bowling alley, gaming centre, health club, and much more.
A beautifully designed interior creates a welcoming ambience with comfortable boothed-seating for six making up the majority of the 150-cover restaurant.
With free parking for customers (car registration is required on arrival), this huge venue, which first opened back in 2016, went through a revitalising change of management earlier in the year.
Zaika is the place to hit for Indo-Pak cuisine
Sourcing their meat from an established local Halal butcher, Zaika’s fully Halal menu has some of the very best dishes of India and Pakistan, with the opportunity of enjoying their buffet on selected days of the week (adults £19.99 and kids £10.99).
What makes this place such a massive draw, however, is classic dishes done superbly well such as their Nehari, a wide selection of Biryanis, slow-cooked Dal Makhani, Lamb Degi, and plenty of grilled dishes to name but a few.
And there’s a reason why their Mix Grill starter is such a popular one, with a trio of succulent lamb chops, freshly tandoored seekh kebabs, marinated chicken wings, and tender nuggets of chicken tikka served for just £15.90.
But if Zaika are known for anything, it’s that traditional Mughal-inspired stew originally from Lucknow, the Nehari, with a special cut of lamb shank which, while practically falling off the bone, is cooked low and slow with an array of carefully balanced spices.
For those who know, their curry dishes are outstandingly impressive, with plenty of variety ranging from karahis, kormas, jalferzis, and masala-based ones.
The Lamb Degh below is just one example of Zaika’s talented chefs being able to pack their curries with punchy, spicious flavours but with a precision that’s second to none.
Biryanis are, as anyone knows, notoriously difficult to execute; unless, of course, you’re a restaurant that boasts the expertise that this place does.
Here they have created a staggering nine biryanis that include some you simply will not find elsewhere such as a King Prawn version, the Sindhi Chicken or Sindhi Lamb, as well as their signature Zaika Special Biryani.
In short, if you’re looking for an entertaining time in Cardiff, be sure to hit The Red Dragon Centre before making certain Zaika Asian Cuisine is your food destination spot for a mesmerising experience.
As for the locals, then Zaika is also well known for its catering services that include parties, engagements, and graduations, as well as external events. Simply contact the restaurant for more details.
