Goodbye Boondocks, hello NYC-inspired Harlem SoulAdvertisement Advertisement HALAL STATUS Fully Halal food menu • Alcohol served
After 947 days and a recent update to their menu, Halal-friendly Boondocks on Old Street is no more.
But the people behind this venture, popular burger joint Stax Diner in Kingly Court and Butterscotch Bakery, will be opening a New York-inspired restaurant in its place.
Soul Food Enterprises will be paying tribute to American urban food by officially launching Harlem Soul next Monday 15th April with 50% off food until 18th April.
The new venture will celebrate Urban America by highlighting the best Harlem has to offer through food, drink, music and decor.
While Soul Food Enterprises has confirmed that “all the food is still halal and still has extensive mocktaiks, milkshakes and southern quenchers range”, alcohol will still be served from its “well-stocked bar”.
With the venue split across two floors, the ground floor will act as “a dancing destination” and a “drinking spot” with DJs expected to play live music “long into the evening”.
The menu served on the ground floor will be American Urban based with Soul Food, Mexican and Korean ranging from classic to fusion dishes including an extensive vegan and vegetarian menu and gluten free options.
Snacking options like include wings, served with a range of sauces and dips, as well as jackfruit tacos, soft shell crab and blackened Cajun popcorn shrimp.
Expect buttermilk chicken and waffles slathered in maple syrup for your mains with crispy seitan on a vegan sweet potato waffle and maple syrup for plant-based diners.
As with Stax and Boondocks, hearty burgers will make up the bulk of the menu, such as, The Harlem that’s made up of two grilled beef patties, shredded short rib, American mac & cheese; the Let’s Get Jammin’ Chorizo Jam burger or one of the extensive vegan options on offer.
