Seven Halal-friendly restaurants are in with the chance of winning the Ealing Restaurant Awards for a second year in a row.

Of the 25 restaurants shortlisted, those catering for Halal are Chianti Italian, Leila, Maryam’s Kitchen, Mumbai Avenue, Patri, Sidi Bou and Steak on the Green.

With voting in full swing and open till the start of October, two of the seven eateries have already been reviewed by Feed the Lion this year.

While Indian curry house Patri in Northfields hugely impressed with 4.5/5, Moroccan and Lebanese restaurant Leila on Uxbridge Road was rated an above-average 3/5.

Last year, Hanwell eatery Matese Pasta Lab, which has informed FtLion that its Halal dishes are prepped and cooked separately from the non-Halal dishes, was voted the event’s inaugural winner.

The Ealing Restaurant Awards was launched last year “to raise awareness of our fantastic independent restaurants” in a west London borough that boasts an impressive number of Halal options.

With complementary restaurant discounts also being offered on their social media channels until the 30th of September, the winner will be announced at the Award’s event ceremony on 18th October in Hanwell.

In partnership with cake makers Debaere and bloggers Eat in Ealing, the Ealing Restaurant Awards say that they “are concerned about the number of restaurant closures in the town centre such as Flaming Cow [also reviewed by FtLion] and the lack of footfall for other businesses”.

They add: “Independent businesses more than others have been impacted by the changing shopping patterns on the high street. We’d love to see both restaurants chains and independents thrive.”

With voting open until the end of this month, those wanting to cast theirs can do so at the following page.
