Back in 2015, FtL had the pleasure of attending the opening of German Doner Kebab’s second London branch in West Ealing, and third in the country.

Fast forward to 2017, and while GDK is preparing to launch its 14th today, this will be Scotland’s first over in Dundee.

Located at 58 Reform Street in the city centre, this one, of course, will, like those in every other restaurant in the global chain, be completely Halal.

With seating for 40, the staff of 20 will be serving GDK’s healthy kebabs comprising of 100% succulent beef and chicken, handmade breads and signature sauces, seven days week from 11-11 along with a carry-out service.

What separates GDK kebabs from other typical doner kebabs is that these are lower in calories and thus healthier.

The Chicken Doner Box Meal, for example, has just 433 calories, yet packs a 46g protein punch.

German Doner Kebab originated in Berlin and has since become a global sensation.

Local manager, Akmal Hayat, said: “We’re very proud to be the first German Doner Kebab in Scotland. It’s a great honour.

“We’ve lodged an application requesting permission to allow weekend opening until 3am and weekdays until midnight.

“We are also planning to introduce a home delivery service in the very near future.

“German Doner Kebab is constantly innovating and we recently introduced the Doner Burger and Doner Nachos, both of which are proving very popular with younger diners.”

According to its website, there’s another 10 branches “opening soon” across the country!

And here’s FtL’s interview with the company’s Marketing Director.
