Gökyüzü Walthamstow Kebab

The award-winning Turkish kebab chain Gökyüzü are to finally have their long awaited grand opening in Walthamstow this afternoon at 12pm.

Having won best kebab restaurant in north and west London at last year’s British Kebab Awards, they now open their third London branch in The Mall.

Given how popular and jammed-packed their sister branches at Green Lanes in Haringey, which first opened in 1999, and Chingford, which opened in September 2015, usually are, we’re positive the same will be true of this location.

With Gökyüzü being rated by one food critic as the second best place to eat in London behind TV chef Gordon Ramsay’s Michelin-starred Petrus in Belgravia, be sure to book ahead, especially during the weekends.

Owned and run by the Yavuz family and established by Hasan Yavuz, with almost 20 years’ experience, expect to be served some of the most authentic and best Turkish kebabs in the Capital.

More specifically, expect some innovative Pides (that’s Turkish pizzas), a large array of meat dishes, freshly caught seafood and a wide selection of regional appetisers.

Gökyüzü, which means ‘sky’ in Turkish, aims high, so if you do go in as a group, you might want to consider their Jumbo Platter for £55.00 – a huge serving of Lamb Shish, Chicken Shish, Adana Kebab, Lamb Ribs, Chicken Doner, Lamb Doner, Chicken Wings and Lamb Chops that are served with rice and bulgur.

Further good news is that, according to their website, there’s also plans of opening a fourth site in Finchley.
