A Halal restaurant that has been feeding the homeless and the needy of Aylesbury on Christmas Day these past seven years will again be welcoming them this month.

Muslim owner and Chef Proprietor Usman will be opening the doors of The Grill Steakhouse in Lower Kingsbury at 1pm to serve the less fortunate in the area “a full Christmas lunch, clothes and an haircut” until 6pm.

Posting on the restaurant’s Facebook page, Usman clarified: “I don’t celebrate the day being Muslim, but it’s a massive part of our beliefs to respects others an there beliefs [sic].”

In October The Grill Steakhouse was rated an impressive 4/5 by members of the Halal food news website, Feed the Lion, with a number of dishes, including a steak and a burger, being nominated for their end of year #FtLionAwards.

Usman is also appealing to members of his community to join him on the day: “Volunteers are welcome to come along and help out from 1pm. It’s always nice to spend time with the less fortunate to make it a day for them to feel like there are people that care and understand there struggle! Donations are welcome – please contact this page for details. We are looking for a hairdressers on the day and anyone else with ideas to enhance the day [sic].”
