The Halal Guys make their big UK debut today

HALAL STATUS Fully Halal (HMC-sourced)

The Muslim-American brand The Halal Guys will continue their success story this morning when they open the doors to their first UK branch.

Located on Irving Street in central London’s Leicester Square, the NYC street food cart business will launch at 11am today.

With American Youtube personality Adam Saleh the guest of honour, expect a huge turn out and lots of giveaways.

FtLion had the opportunity of visiting the large and spacious 65-cover restaurant yesterday, which will certainly be giving Turkish restaurant Ali Ockabasi next door some fierce competition.

All Meat HMC-Sourced

Having met the three co-owners, seen the staff making preparations for the big day while going through some final drills, and sampled their main dishes, we can say that The Halal Guys are leaving nothing to chance with all their meat being HMC-sourced.

For those who don’t know, the trio of Egyptian immigrants who first began the business in the 1990s – Ahmed Elsaka, Mohammed Abouelenein and Abdelbaset Elsayed – today boast 85 outlets across North America and the Far East.

And having tried their trademark mayonnaise and hot red sauces, we can fully appreciate all the hype.

Be sure to give their staple of grilled chicken and/ or gyro beef – a doner kebab of Greek origin – wrapped in either a pitta or served with rice, a try.

Future Conquest of the UK

Having interviewed the owners of this branch (watch out for that in the next few days), we can disclose that The Halal Guys are looking to launch their second branch not too far away in Earl’s Court by the end of June.

And while the third is planned for the end of this year at a hitherto unknown location, their aim in the next 5-years is to open 20 locations across the UK.
