The Steak Restaurant offers Halal to ‘untapped market’

An up-market steak house in west London has introduced a separate Halal menu with the aim of reaching “an untapped market”.

Located in Hatch End, The Steak Restaurant launched the menu this week along with controls in place to ensure zero risk of cross contamination.

According to the menu: “All our Halal meat is certified, and is prepared with separate chopping boards and knives, and cooked in separate pots and pans.”

The steak house’s beef is sourced from Liffey Meats, a long established fifth-generation exporter of premium Irish beef, and certified by the Bray Halal Centre in Ireland.

According to their website: “We only source the very finest single farm reared beef from around the UK. All our steak cuts are from beef that has been aged on the bone for at least 28 days. This maturing process enhances the richness in taste and ensures tenderness resulting in a sensational eating experience.”

A representative of the steak house told FtL: “We are very, very exited in introducing high quality cuts of beef to an untapped market.”

The Steak Restaurant Hatch End Halal Certified

Halal-certified menu with all dishes prepped and cooked separately.

Whilst a mixture of seafood dishes dominate the Halal menu’s Starters, including Pacific Shrimp Tempura, Seafood Chowder, and Salmon Cevich, it is all about the selection of steaks.

The steaks are cooked to a diner’s requirement and presented unadorned in the centre of a large white plate.

Although the largest Fillet piece is a respectable 300g, the Sirloin and Rib Eye are available in three weights, with two “thick cut” pieces weighing 350g and 500g respectively.

And there’s also The Steak Restaurant‘s ‘Special House Cut Steaks’, which are huge 400g or 500g slabs of Chateaubriand that are intended for sharing between two.

But what makes this Halal-friendly restaurant stand out from the others is the cooking of the steaks.

Their “thick cuts steaks” are cooked on a specialised grill that’s been heated to 1800°F and where “the extreme, intense heat sears, caramelises, crusts & locks in all the juices ensuring a beautifully textured steak bursting with flavour”.

Although there are plans for introducing a Halal Sunday Roast too, currently it can only be arranged with prior notice.

A complementary dessert is also available until the 30th of March by quoting “Halal Dining Club”.
