When it comes to new restaurants and eateries that cater for Halal, 2017 really has been quite a year!
Having been at the forefront of New Opening annoucements this year, FtL has published news of 69 launches all vying for success in one of the most demanding industries.
London alone has welcomed 53 such restaurants with the East and Central leading the way with 16 a piece.
There was also 16 openings outside the Capital that included three each in Leicester, Manchester and Birmingham, respectively.
More impressively however are the number of quality eateries, whose ambition, innovation and pursuit, have already earned them praise and accolades.
A few notable mentions are Darjeeling Express in Carnaby, which has won a number of awards already this year with glowing reviews all round; and global chain P.F. Chang’s, which launched its first branch in the UK.
While there’s an argument that the Halal burger market is saturated, that has not stopped an additional 13 being introduced, with one joint in particular standing out from the rest.
Only three months following its launch and with a massive 42% majority, Boo Burgers triumphed against big boys GBK, Five Guys, Byron and Handmade Burger Co., by being voted the city’s best burger restaurant in the Leicester Mercury news.
Of the restaurants reviewed by FtL this year, London’s Drunch in Regent’s Park (4/5 ROARS), Mesa Kitchen & Lounge in Southgate (4/5 ROARS; after only a week since opening) have triumphed in this year’s FtLion Awards, while Chai Naasto in Hammersmith (3.5/5 ROARS) and Rickshaw Rick’s in Leicester (3.5/5 ROARS) were shortlisted nominees.
